Limits

Set a monthly spending limit for your organization or a project, and see or raise your API quotas in the Soniox Console.

Limits protect you from surprise bills and keep the service stable for everyone. The Console has two kinds:

  • Cost limits cap how much you spend in a month, in US dollars.
  • API quotas cap how much you use the API at once, such as how many real-time streams can be open at the same time.

You can set both for the whole organization and for each project. Who can see and change limits depends on your role. See Members and roles.

Cost limits

Organization

Go to Organization > Limits. At the top you see the Soniox maximum, the most your organization can spend in a month.

Below it, you can set two values of your own:

  • Organization monthly usage limit: when your organization spends more than this in a calendar month (UTC), Soniox rejects further API requests and sends an email to your organization's contact email.
  • Email notification trigger: when your organization spends more than this in a calendar month, Soniox only sends the email. Requests keep working.

Leave a field empty if you don't want that limit. Spending starts again from zero at the start of each month.

Limits may take a short while to take effect, and you still pay for any usage above the limit in that time. Set the limit a little below the amount you can't go over.

Project

Go to Project > Limits to set the same two values for one project. A project limit can't be higher than the organization limit.

Raise the maximum

If the Soniox maximum is too low, select Request usage limit increase on Organization > Limits. Enter the new limit you want and a short reason. Soniox sends the answer to your organization's contact email.

API quotas

Find API quotas for each product under Organization > Limits.

Each product has one main limit, such as the number of Speech-to-Text streams that can run at once. When you raise the main limit, Soniox raises the related limits with it.

Raise a quota

Select Request increase next to a product, enter the value you want, and explain why you need it. You need funds in your organization before you can request a higher quota. Limit increase history lists past requests and their answers.

Project quotas

By default, a project uses the organization's quotas. To keep one project from using up your whole quota, go to Project > Limits and set a lower value for that project. To undo it, select Inherit from organization.

Select Show advanced limits to set the related limits one by one.
