Account and organization deletion
Delete your Soniox account or an organization, learn what is deleted with it, and fix the issues that can block deletion.
You can delete your Soniox account from the Console and, if your role allows it, an organization. Neither can be undone.
What gets deleted
What happens to each of your organizations depends on whether anyone else is in it:
- Organizations where you are the only member are deleted with your account, along with all of their projects, API keys, files, and transcripts.
- Organizations with other members stay as they are. Soniox only removes you from them.
If you want to keep your team's work, make sure someone else is an Admin of the organization before you delete your account.
Delete your account
Select your email, then Manage your Soniox account, and scroll to Delete account.
Read the list of what will be deleted. If something blocks deletion, see Fix what blocks deletion.
Select Delete my account.
Confirm that it's you. If you sign in with a password, enter it. Then type your email address and select Delete account.
Soniox signs you out once the account is deleted.
Delete an organization
You can delete an organization without deleting your account, if your role allows it. See Members and roles. Soniox deletes all of the organization's data, and its members lose access.
Before you can delete an organization:
- Delete all projects first. See Delete a project.
- You can't delete your default organization, the one Soniox created when you signed up. Soniox deletes it only with your account.
- Fix any billing issues. See the rows marked Both in Fix what blocks deletion.
To delete an organization:
Go to Organization > Settings and find Delete organization.
Select Delete this organization, type the organization's name to confirm, and select Delete organization.
Fix what blocks deletion
Soniox won't delete an account or organization while doing so would leave a team without an Admin or leave money behind. The page lists each issue with a button that takes you to the fix. Fix them all, then try again.
| The page says | Applies to | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You are the only admin of this organization | Account | In Organization > Members, make another member an Admin. |
| Your email is this organization's contact email | Account | In Organization > Settings, change the contact email to someone else's. |
| You are the only member of this organization | Account | Delete that organization first, or invite another member. This applies to every organization except your default one. |
| The organization has a negative balance | Both | In Organization > Billing, add funds to bring the balance above zero. |
| The organization has a paid balance | Both | Select Contact support to email Soniox about the money left in the organization. If only a small amount is left, the page doesn't block deletion but warns you that you'll lose the money. |
| Open invoice, invoice billing, active contract, or support package | Both | Select Contact support to email Soniox. Soniox needs to close these first. |
